If you are a homeschooling mom this blog is for you! It is not about curriculum. It is not about "classroom management" or how to create lesson plans. It is about survival. It's about maintaining your uniqueness both as a woman and as a human being. It is a place for you to receive advice, feel supported, be reminded that you are not alone and read about how other moms in your own position are surviving and even thriving as whole people. A place to help you answer for yourself the question that everyone asks (or wants to ask) or would ask if they weren't busy worrying about how your kids' spelling is since they aren't in "real" school, the question of, "How do you do it all?"
If we are telling the truth, many of us (especially those of us who are still fairly new and are still just flying by the seats of our pants) we will not yet have a real
answer for that question other than, "We just do." Maybe, together we can hone that answer or at least grow in our perceptions about how we can make this experience all that it can possibly be... and on some days just get enough support to make it to bedtime!
How do we do this and come out on the other end looking better than something that somewhat resembles a homosapien. There are places all over the internet devoted to how homeschooling develops our children and grows them into the wonderful people that we know they are going to be (or have become for those who have been at this for a long time.) But how does it develop us?
Do we do this thing purely as a sacrificial act or is it possible that we can reap some benefits that might be found in few other ways than spending daily time nurturing the minds of our children and our own minds (while simultaneously feeding gaping hungry mouths, washing unfathomable amounts of laundry, changing poopy diapers, keeping husbands happy, exercising, eating right, maintaining spiritual well-being, and making sure to be shower-fresh and clothed [as much as possible]).
I want this to be a blog with multiple contributors. This way we will have people of all flavors and personality types, thereby being more user friendly and helpful to a greater audience. Bring your personal style to it. Be yourself. If you are funny, be funny. If you are serious, yet encouraging, we need that too! If you ocassionally write a wonderful post on your homeschooling message board that people swear up and down that they are going to print and have turned into a plaque to hang in their school room, copy it to a post here! If you are a voice of reason or a woman who knows how to find the resources that we need to know about but you stink at writing, join in anyways! We need your resourcefulness!
If you feel you have something to add and can make a valuable contribution -- even if it's something small, please e-mail me (e-mail link located under the coffee image) and tell me just a little about yourself and if I feel fairly confident that you are not a psycho stalker weirdo sycophant I'll see what I can do about adding you to the list of contributors! In your e-mail please include a link to your blog as I'm sure you will want a link back to your own place!
Edited to add: Once you are approved as a contributor, please make an introduction post and put the introductions label on it. Any other posts you make, feel free to label as you see fit. To keep our labels to a minimum though try and use something that is already there if it fits what you have written. :^D

That coffee pic is luscious, Nan! I'm excited about this blog. DKinTX (Denise)
I have to join, if only for that coffee cup!
Hi Nan,
I am actually quite excited about this blog. I would love to contribute and be a part of this. Let me know how I can help, and I will link this blog.
This post has been removed by the author.
oops! trying again.
I've linked this blog to my new blog. I may ask to join a little later when I feel more comfortable with the whole blogging thing. Here's where you can see my work in it's infancy. http://www2.blogger.com - Blogger: Not a Stepford Wife
I only started homeschooling this December. I've summer-schooled my 2 older boys since their 5K year. After much prayer and supportive encouragement of many homeschooling friends, my husband and I decided to take our lives, schedules and the education of our children back to ourselves. We're thrilled with the blessings, even on hard days.
So if you think the thoughts of a NEW homeschooler would be a contribution, I'm interested in blogging them. I attempted to keep up solely a homeschooling blog over at homeschoolblogger.com in addition to my regular blog, but it became too much. This type of contribution appeals to me though.
I've included both sites for your viewing. Thanks. I'm looking forward to the support of this blog.

I wanted to invite all of you to join the Friday Fruit of the Spirit meme. You can write any post focusing on one of the fruits or answer these prompts:
1. What fruit are you focusing on this fruit this week?
2. How does the Bible define this fruit?
3. How does God reveal this fruit to us?
4. What is the evidence of this fruit in one’s life?
5. Share an example of the presence of this fruit in someone’s life.
6. How does fruit or lack of it in our life affect others? (spouse, children, friends)
7. What can you do to express more of this fruit in your character?
See

I also started a memes list (even scrapbooked it) see

What a great idea you have here! :) I'd love to contribute some. I clicked on "administrator email" but there was some sort of issue with my computer. Here's my blog, though. It's called The Educational Life. Please contact me! :)

Let me know if you would like me to contribute.
Hi ~ I would love to contribute here! We have been homeschooling the whole time and our oldest is in 6th grade. We have 5 children. What a great place to be real.
Just had to leave a note saying that I love the name of this blog!
Hi,
I would love to be able to contribute to this blog (I found out about it from my sister). But when I tried to click on the administrator e-mail link, nothing happened. Is there another way I can get in touch?
Forgot to add my blog name! www.vanderpoolfamily.blogspot.com
